A self-sufficient interactive sculpture, Solar Powered Door (to Nothingness) stands freely in open space and functions metaphorically as a threshold into the present and new sustainable possibilities. The intended connotations of this symbolic action, walking through a solar powered door, invite the passers-by to participate in a readjustment of society's relationship to technology and the environment, simultaneously suggesting a spiritual involvement through an invitation to the universe. This structure consists of a metal doorway on a plinth and is covered with solar panels on both sides. As a person approaches the door from either direction, it opens slowly, ushering the person into the unknown.
