In July of 2001, while walking along the sandy beach at Marina di Pietrasanta, looking out at the horizon and the setting sun, I imagined….sensed something ominous about to happen, a premonition of sorts…the flatness of the horizon suddenly bulging upward. Several days later, when the light was just right, I returned with my camera to photograph the sunset, capturing the fantastic colors on that particularly day, with what would become the Beachscape slide-collage in mind.
