Ohm Sweet Ohm

1995

At the time, having recently discovered the large format Buchtal stoneware tiles, I became intrigued by the possibility to print at a larger scale, and began silk-screening the sky and technoglyph images directly onto the tiles before re-firing them. Addressing our western lifestyles and how technology was shaping these processes, while keeping in mind that the ohm is the measurement of electrical resistance through a conductor, this title as text was an obvious compliment which I included as another mass-produced layer. In addition to creating the first sky-houses from some of the early ceramic sky-tiles, the Ohm Sweet Ohm edition ensued, which if not finding a resolution, highlighted these dilemmas.
