The windows in my apartment in Pietrasanta had wooden shutters, not only on the outside, but also on the inside. A close-up shot of the living room window, looking outward at the chimney shown in Roomscape II, became the frame for a slide taken from my room during my second work period at the European Ceramic Work Center in s’Hertogenbosch in 1999. This shot, taken through a green filter of the adjacent canal, with a little red car parked in front of the opposite row of houses, I repeated the image, multiplying structures and rhythms into this new composition, mesmerised by the idea of what might be more true.
